Managing Timelines

At any time, the dates on a Work Order Status can be changed as plans change.

When changing the dates on a Work Order Status, it is important to first determine whether:

  • the dates on any future Work Order Statuses on the Blend Plan should also be updated, and

  • child work plans should also be updated

There are 2 checkboxes that control whether or not changes to dates on a work order status should also flow through to future work order statuses, and child work plans.

‘Update Child Work Plans When Work Order Status Changes’

The ‘Update Child Work Plans When Work Order Status Changes’ checkbox is checked by default and, when checked, indicates that any changes to a work order status should be reflected in its child work plans.

For example, in the ‘Trial Blend - Chk compliance and Alc'’ Work Order Status in the image below, if the start date is changed to the 11th of February, the child work plan will also move out 1 day.

Note above that only the first Work Order Status and child work plan has changed.

If there are multiple work plans within a Work Order Status, they will not be updated to equal the dates on the Work Order Status, they be updated by the same number of days as the parent Work Order Status. So if the above ‘Shipping/Receiving’ Work Order Status start date is moved by 1 day, the following updates would occur on the child work plans.

Respect Dependencies When Changing Start Dates

The ‘Respect Dependencies When Changing Start Dates‌’ checkbox can be selected if a change to a Work Order Status start date should also then change subsequent Work Order Statuses. If this is checked, if a start date is changed on a work order status, the end date, and the start and end dates for all subsequent work order statuses, and their child work plans, will move out by the same number of days.

For example, in the below, with the 'Respect Dependencies When Changing Start Dates' checkbox now selected, if the ‘Trial Blend - Chk compliance and Alc' Work Order Status start date is changed to the 12th of February, and both checkboxes are selected, the child work plan AND all subsequent Work Order Statuses and their child work plans will also move out by 1 day.

Updates to Child Work Plans

If child work plans are updated, the parent Work Order Status will not be updated, however warnings will be shown if the work plan dates are outside the dates on the parent Work Order Status.

Warnings will be given on the Work Plan line item if the start, or end date are outside the Start and End Date.

Similarly, a warning will be shown, even if the Work Plans are not visible, on the parent Work Order Status line

Update Child Work Plans When Work Order Status Changes

Note, any changes to end dates will not result in changes to other Work Order Statuses.
